Jenö Hubay (1858-1937) „Hejre Kati” for solo-trumpet and wind orchestra
Der Vater von Jenő Hubay war Violinprofessor an der Musikakademie und Kapellmeister des Staatstheaters in Budapest. Zunächst von seinem Vater unterrichtet, ging er 1873 nach Berlin, um bei Joseph Joachim zu studieren. Nach erfolgreiche Konzerttourneen nahm er die Berufung zur Hauptprofessur für Violine am Konservatorium in Brüssel an. 1886 kehrte Hubay nach Ungarn zurück, um die Violinenausbildung an der Budapester Musikakademie zu übernehmen; von 1919 bis 1934 war er dessen Direktor. In den 1920er Jahren organisierte er jeden Sonntag legendäre Nachmittagskonzerte, bei denen viele Berühmtheiten seiner Zeit auftraten. Hubay komponierte vorwiegend Violinkonzert und wurde von Königen, Staatsoberhäuptern und Künstlern in ganz Europa eingeladen. Mit „Hejre Kati“ schuf Huby ein Virtuosenstück, das in seiner Mischung aus Gefühl und Temperament zum Inbegriff ungarischer Violinmusik wurde. Prof. Hackl hat das Werk für Trompete-solo und Blasorchester arrangiert und mit den Original Kaiserjägern virtuos auf Tonträger eingespielt.
Jenő Hubay’s father was a violin professor at the Academy of Music and conductor at the State Theater in Budapest. Initially taught by his father, he went to Berlin in 1873 to study with Joseph Joachim. After successful concert tours, he accepted the appointment to the main professorship for violin at the Brussels Conservatory. In 1886 Hubay returned to Hungary to study the violin at the Budapest Academy of Music; from 1919 to 1934 he was its director. In the 1920s he organized legendary afternoon concerts every Sunday, at which many celebrities of the time performed. Hubay composed mostly violin concertos and was invited by kings, heads of state and artists across Europe. With “Hejre Kati” Huby created a virtuoso piece that became the epitome of Hungarian violin music with its mixture of feeling and temperament. Prof. Hackl arranged the work for trumpet solo and wind orchestra and recorded it with the original Kaiserjaeger band with virtuosity.
