Ein Manuskript zu dieser Musik mit der Aufschrift „Adagio – Corno inglese“ befindet sich im Mozarteum Salzburg. Man weiß nicht, wann Mozart das kleine Werk verfasst hat, es muss ihm aber wichtig gewesen sein, denn kurz vor seinem Tode, am 18. Juni 1791 in Baden bei Wien, übernahm er das Thema für sein berühmtes „Ave verum“. Ein Fragment eines Adagios in F für Klarinette und drei Bassetthörner (KV 484c) ist möglicherweise verbunden mit dem Adagio KV 580a.
A manuscript for this music with the inscription “Adagio – Corno inglese” is in the Mozarteum Salzburg. It is not known when Mozart composed this small work, but it must have been important to him, because shortly before his death, on June 18, 1791 in Baden near Vienna, he took over the theme for his famous “Ave verum”. A fragment of an Adagio in F for clarinet and three basset horns (KV 484c) is possibly connected with the Adagio KV 580a.
