Aus den Melodien seiner Operette „Die Fledermaus“ hat Johann Strauss Tanzkompositionen ar- rangiert. Die am 6. September 1874 im Druck erschienene Polka „An der Moldau“ verwendet das hübsche Polkamotiv, „Marianka, komm‘ und tanz‘ me hier“ aus der Ballettmusik, die Strauss für den großen Ball beim Fürsten Orlofsky im zweiten Akt der Operette komponiert hatte. Die Urauf- führung des Werkes dürfte im Herbst 1874 durch eine Militärkapelle erfolgt sein.
Johann Strauss arranged dance compositions from the melodies of his operetta “Die Fledermaus”. The polka “An der Moldau”, which appeared in print on September 6, 1874, uses the pretty polka motif, “Marianka, come and dance me here” from the ballet music that Strauss composed for Prince Orlofsky’s big ball in the second act of the operetta had. The first performance of the work was likely to have taken place in the autumn of 1874 by a military band.
