Johann Strauss I (1804-1849) Cachucha-Galopp op. 97
La cachucha wurde zum ersten Mal für die spanische Oper in drei Akten El disparate oder La obra de los locos von Félix Máximo López (1742-1821), dem ersten Organisten der Königlichen Ka- pelle, geschrieben. International bekannt wurde es von Fanny Elssler in Paris im Ballett “Le Diable boiteux” (Der Teufel im Knöchel) von 1836 von Eugene Coralli (1779-1854). Seitdem ist der Ruhm dieser Tänzerin für immer mit dieser Nummer verbunden. Johann Strauss I. konnte nicht widerste- hen, den gleichen Cachucha aus El diablo cojuelo dem Rhythmus des Galopps anzupassen und so seinen Cachucha-Galopp zu erhalten. Strauss Cachucha-Galopp wurde bei Floras Freuden- Feier in der Goldenen Birn am 7. August 1837 erstmalig aufgeführt.
La cachucha was written for the first time for the Spanish opera in three acts El disparate or La ob- ra de los locos by Félix Máximo López (1742-1821), the first organist of the Royal Chapel. It be- came internationally known from Fanny Elssler in Paris in the ballet “Le Di-able boiteux” (The devil in the ankle) by Eugene Coralli (1779-1854) in 1836. Since then, the fame of this dancer is forever associated with this number. Johann Strauss I couldn’t resist adapting the same cachucha from El diablo cojuelo to the rhythm of the gallop and thus maintaining his cachucha gallop. Strauss’ Ca- chucha Gallop was performed for the first time at Floras’s Joy Celebration in the Golden Birn on August 7, 1837.
