Vittorio Monti (1868-1922) Csárdás for Alto-saxophon and wind-orchestra
Monti studierte in Neapel Violine und Komposition. Um 1900 erhielt er eine Berufung als Dirigent des Lamoureux-Orchesters in Paris. In späteren Jahren widmete er sich mehr dem Violin- und Mandolinenspiel; beide Instrumente unterrichtete er auch. Vittorio Monti schrieb einige Ballette und Operetten. Sein berühmtestes Musikstück ist das Csárdás ein beliebtes Virtuosenstück, das sich im Repertoire vieler Kapellen befindet. Neben Montis originaler Komposition, die für solistische Mandoline beziehungsweise Violine mit Klavier- oder Orchesterbegleitung verfasst ist, befinden sich zahlreiche Bearbeitungen für verschiedenste Soloinstrumente im Repertoire. Unsere Fassung ermöglicht dem Solo-Alto-Saxophonisten wie auch dem Bläserorchester virtuose Möglichkeiten.
Monti studied violin and composition in Naples. Around 1900 he was appointed conductor of the Lamoureux Orchestra in Paris. In later years he devoted himself more to playing the violin and mandolin; he also taught both instruments. Vittorio Monti wrote some ballets and operettas. His most famous piece of music is the Csárdás, a popular virtuoso piece that is in the repertoire of many bands. In addition to Monti’s original composition, which was written for solo mandolin or violin with piano or orchestral accompaniment, there are numerous arrangements for a wide variety of solo instruments in the repertoire. Our version offers virtuoso possibilities for the solo alto saxophonist as the wind orchestra too.
