Johann Strauss I (1804-1849) Einzugs-Galopp, op. 35 / Entry-Gallop
Es ist wichtig festzuhalten, dass es nicht so sehr Kompositions-, als vielmehr Aufführungsqualitäten waren, die den Weltruhm des Strauss‘schen Musik begründeten: die dynamische Schattierungskunst, die von Berlioz gerühmte rhythmische Koketterie und das besondere Wiener Violinspiel, idealtypisch verkörpert in Johann Strauss selbst. Die genuine Verbindung von Unterhaltungs- und Kunstmusik, die sich in den anspruchsvollen Walzer-Introduktionen, originellen Tänzen, vor allem aber die Präzision der Ausführung waren es, welche die Johann Strauss Kapelle berühmt machte. Dieser Zusammenhang zwischen der Strauss Musik und einer fast kammermusikalisch zu nennenden Präzision der Ausführung mag als Vorbild für die unsere Bearbeitungen dienen. In der Wiener Zeitung Nr. 214 vom 18. September 1830 wurde der „Einzugs-Galopp“ erstmals angekündigt.
It is important to note that it was not so much the compositional qualities as the performance qualities that established the world fame of Strauss’ music: the dynamic art of shading, the rhythmic coquetry praised by Berlioz and the special Viennese violin playing, ideally embodied in Johann Strauss himself. The genuine combination of entertainment and art music, which was reflected in the demanding waltz introductions, original dances, but above all the precision of the execution was what made the Johann Strauss Orchestra famous. This connection between the Strauss music and an almost chamber-musical precision of the execution may serve as a model for our resounding arrangements. The “Entry-Gallop” was announced for the first time in the Wiener Zeitung No. 214 of September 18, 1830.
