Karl Komzák (1850-1905) Erhzherzog Albrecht Marsch / Archduke Albrecht March
Komzák zählt zu den profilierten Musikerpersönlichkeiten in der zweiten Reihe der Strauss-Ära und war wohl der prominenteste „Böhmische Musikant“ unter den Militärkapellmeistern. Komzák, nicht nur ein ausgezeichneter Musiker, sondern auch ein Orchestererzieher von hohen Graden, bildete die Regimentskapelle zu einer der besten der k.u.k. Armee heran. 1895 schloss Komzák seine ärarische Karriere ab, um künftig als Kurmusikdirektor in Baden bei Wien zu wirken. Im Sommer 1904 führte ihn eine Konzertreise nach St. Louis zur Weltausstellung, wo er sich als Bot- schafter der Wiener Musik auszeichnete.
Als Komponist des Leichten Genres sehr produktiv, schrieb er mehr als 300 Kompositionen, im mi- litärischen Rahmen wurden sein „84er-Regimentsmarsch“ und der „Erzherzog-Albrecht-Marsch“ sein, dem Erzherzog Albrecht, Herzog von Teschen (1817–1895) gewidmetes op. 136, bekannt. Die Uraufführung dieses Traditionsmarsches fand 1887 zum 60-jährigen Militär-Dienstjubiläum der Erzherzogs statt. Musikalisch besonders interessant ist der kurze Teil im 6/8-Takt vor dem Da Capo!
Komzák is one of the prominent musical personalities in the second row of the Strauss era and was probably the most prominent “Bohemian musician” among the military bandmasters. Komzák, not only an excellent musician, but also an orchestral teacher of high grades, made the regimental band one of the best of the k.u.k. Army approach. In 1895 Komzák completed his Aryan career in order to work as a spa music director in Baden near Vienna. In the summer of 1904, a concert tour took him to the St. Louis World’s Fair, where he distinguished himself as an ambassador for Viennese music. Very productive as a composer of the light genre, he wrote more than 300 compositions; in the military context his “84er Regimentsmarsch” and the “Archduke Albrecht March” were dedicated to Arch- duke Albrecht, Duke of Teschen (1817–1895), op 136, known. The first performance of this tradi- tional march took place 1887 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Archduke’s military service. Musi- cally particularly interesting is the short part in 6/8 time before the Da Capo!
