„Im Jahre seines Todes, 1849, unternahm unser Vater eine Reise mit seiner Capelle nach Deutschland und London“, berichtete Eduard Strauss.Insgesamt  soll die Kapelle Strauss 46 Konzerte in England gegeben haben. Strauss traf auch mit dem Staatskanzler Fürst Metternich zusammen, der seit 1848 dort lebte. Am 14. Mai 1849 gab Strauss in der Exeter Hall, der Stadtresidenz des Earl of Exeter in London ein Konzert, das von einer großen Zuhörerschaft mit begeistertem Applaus aufgenommen wurde, wie die „Times“ berichtete.

“In the year of his death, 1849, our father took a trip with his orchestra to Germany and London,” reported Eduard Strauss. The Strauss band is said to have given a total of 46 concerts in England. Strauss also met with the State Chancellor, Prince Metternich, who had lived there since 1848. On May 14, 1849, Strauss gave a concert in Exeter Hall, the city residence of the Earl of Exeter in London, which was received by a large audience with enthusiastic applause, as the “Times” reported.
