Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben ist der Titel einer Kirchen-Kantate von Johann Sebastian Bach, die er ursprünglich in Weimar komponierte und sie 1723 in Leipzig für das Fest Maria Heimsuch-ung erweiterte. Die Chöre der No. 6 und No. 10 beginnen mit „Wohl mir, dass ich Jesum habe – Jesus bleibet mein Freude“. Diese Melodie ist eine der bekanntesten Choralbearbeitungen von Johann Sebastian Bach. Er komponierte das Werk für vierstimmigen Chor, Streicher, Oboen und Trompete. In der englischsprachigen Welt erfreut sich das Werk unter dem Titel ‚Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring‘ ebenfalls außerordentlicher Popularität. Prof. Hackl hat das Werk transponiert und für Orgel und Horn (oder Alt-Posaune) bearbeitet.
‘Heart and Mouth and Action and Life’ is the title of a church cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, which he originally composed in Weimar and expanded it in Leipzig in 1723 for the feast of the Visitation of Mary. The choirs of no. 6 and no. 10 begin with ’I am blessed that I have Jesus’. This melody is one of the best-known chorale arrangements by Johann Sebastian Bach. He composed the work for four-part choir, strings, oboes and trumpet. The work, titled ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring‘, is also extremely popular in the English-speaking world. Prof. Hackl transposed the work and arranged it for organ and horn (or alto trombone).
