Johann Strauss II (1825-1899) Leichtes Blut / Light Blood, Polka fast, op.319
Bei der Karnevalsrevue der Brüder Johann, Josef und Eduard Strauss 1867 im k.k. Volksgarten standen 24 neue Kompositionen auf dem Programm. Johann Strauss präsentierte u.a. eine rassige Polka und gab dem genialen Werk den exakt passenden Titel „Leichtes Blut“. Die Begeisterung der Zuhörer war so groß, dass die Schnellpolka wiederholt werden musste – und noch heute jubelt das Publikum.
At the carnival revue of the brothers Johann, Josef and Eduard Strauss in 1867 in the k.k. Volksgarten there were 24 new compositions on the program. Johann Strauss presented, among other things, a classy polka and gave the ingenious work the precisely fitting title „Light Blood”. The enthusiasm of the audience was so great that the fast polka had to be repeated – and the audience is still cheering today.
