Phililipp Fahrbach, sen. (1815-1885) Locomotiv-Galopp, op. 31
Philipp Fahrbach der Ältere, österreichischer Komponist und Kapellmeister, war Schüler von Joseph Lanner und Johann Strauss (Vater). 1835 gründete er seine eigene Kapelle und war von 1838 bis 1856 Leiter des Hofballs. Als Militärkapellmeister wirkte er beim Inf.-Reg.Nr. 4 „Hoch- und Deutschmeister“ und beim Inf.Reg.Nr. 14. 1849 unternahm er eine Auslandsreise nach Berlin. Fahrbach schrieb 700 Kompositionen, darunter zwei Opern. Auch komponierte er Walzer, Potpourris, Märsche und Kirchenmusik und erwarb sich große Verdienste um die Militärmusik, bei der er als einer der ersten auch in Streicherbesetzung aufgetreten ist. 1825 fand der erste Spatenstich für die „Budweis-Donau-Eisenbahn“ statt. Sie war die erste Eisenbahngesellschaft des deutschen Sprachraumes. Als Geburtsstunde der Eisenbahn (mit Lokomotivbetrieb) in Österreich gilt 1836 der Spatenstich für die 1838 eröffnete Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn. Philipp Fahrbach the Elder, Austrian composer and conductor, was a student of Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss (father). In 1835 he founded his own band and was director of the court ball from 1838 to 1856. He worked as a military bandmaster with the Inf.-Reg.No.4 “High and German Master” and at the Inf.Reg.No.14. In 1849 he went on a trip abroad to Berlin. Fahrbach wrote 700 compositions, including two operas. He also composed waltzes, potpourris, marches and church music and made great contributions to military music, in which he was one of the first to appear with a string section. The first groundbreaking ceremony for the “Budweis-Danube Railway” took place in 1825. It was the first railway company in the German-speaking area. The birth of the railway (with locomotive operation) in Austria in 1836 was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kaiser Ferdi-nands-Nordbahn, which opened in 1838. This project developed into a real success story
