Isaac Posch (1591-1622) Paduana á5 ‚Echo‘

Isaac Posch war als Organist, Orgelbauer und Komponist tätig und stand von 1614 bis 1618 im Dienst der evangelischen kärntnerischen Landständen. Posch ist 1617 in einer Residenz der Bischöfe zu Laibach und wenig später in der Franziskanerkirche zu Laibach nachweisbar. Er spielte in den Schlosskapellen des Adels und auch bei repräsentativen Anlässen und Festen der Stände. Sein instrumentales Schaffen umfasst Sammlungen von Tänzen. Die Paduana ‚Echo‘, erschien im Jahre 1621 in Nürnberg im Sammelband „Musikalische Tafelfreudt“ – eine Gesamtausgabe davon wurde in den „Denkmälern der Tonkunst in Österreich“, Band 70 herausgegeben. Posch schreibt: “die Musicaten sollen wol achtung geben auff die piano und forte, da dann bey dem p eine stille moderation, bey dem f aber eine starcke und frische bewegung in acht zunemen“. Poschs Instrumentalmusik trug wesentlich zur Entwicklung der Variationssuite bei.

Isaac Posch worked as an organist, organ builder and composer and was in the service of the evangelical Carinthian estates from 1614 to 1618. Posch can be traced back to 1617 in a residence of the bishops in Ljubljana and a little later in the Franciscan church in Ljubljana. He played in the castle chapels of the nobility and also at representative events and festivals of the estates. His instrumental work includes collections of dances. The Paduana ‘Echo’ was published in Nuremberg in 1621 in the anthology “Musikalische Tafelfreudt” – a complete edition of which was published in the “Denkmaeler der Tonkunst in Oesterreich”, volume 70. Posch writes: “The musicians should pay attention to the piano and forte, because then the p has a quiet moderation, but the f has a strong and fresh movement”.
