Geboren in Böhmen, gestorben in Wien, war Andreas Leonhardt ein österreichischer Musiker, Komponist und Kapellmeister. Nach seiner musikalischen Ausbildung trat er der k.u.k Militärmusik bei. Zunächst Musiker und dann Regimentskapellmeister wurde ihm 1850 die Aufgabe des k. u. k. Armee-Kapellmeisters angeboten. Er machte sich um die Reorganisation des Militärmusikwesens im Kaisertum Österreich verdient. Zur Uraufführung des Zapfenstreichs meldete die Presse: „Unter der Leitung des Armeekapellmeisters spielten rund 800 Militärmusiker den von ihm arrangierten Großen Zapfenstreich mit Introduktion und Finale“. Auch wurde die Frische der musikalischen Motive und die Präzision des Zusammenspiels festgestellt und dass sich „der künstlerische Ruhm der österreichischen Militärmusik und das Leitungstalent des Herrn Armeekapellmeisters auf das Glänzendste bewährte“.
Born in Bohemia, died in Vienna, Andreas Leonhardt was an Austrian musician, composer and conductor. After his musical education he joined the k.u.k military music. First musicians and then regimental bandmaster in 1850 he was given the task of k.u.k. Army Kapellmeister offered. He rendered services to the reorganization of military music in the Austrian Empire. The press reported on the premiere of the tattoo: “Under the direction of the army bandmaster, around 800 military musicians played the Great Tattoo arranged by him with introduction and finale“. The freshness of the musical motifs and the precision of the interplay were also noted and that “the artistic fame of Austrian military music and the leadership talent of the army bandmaster proved to be most brilliant”.
