Josef Strauss (1827-1870) Ohne Sorgen!, Polka fast, op. 271 / Without Worries!
Die Sommersaison 1869 verbrachten Johann und Josef Strauss in Pawlowsk bei St. Petersburg und leiteten abwechselnd die Konzerte in Vauxhall. Obwohl Josef Strauss in Russland „blässer ge- worden war und er keine Anregung zum Arbeiten“ hatte, schrieb er eine rasante Polka, der er – justament – den Titel „Ohne Sorgen!“ gab. Es ist dem geradezu übermütig-fröhlichen Werk nicht anzumerken, aus welcher seelischen Bedrängnis heraus es entstanden ist. Josef schaffte es mit dieser Polka, den Eindruck zu erwecken, als sei die Welt tatsächlich „Ohne Sorgen“
Johann and Josef Strauss spent the summer season of 1869 in Pavlovsk near St. Petersburg and took turns leading the concerts in Vauxhall. Although Josef Strauss in Russia had „become paler and he had no incentive to work”, he wrote a fast-paced polka, which he – justament – gave the title „Without worries!”. It is impossible to tell from what kind of emotional distress it arose from the downright high-spirited and happy work. With this polka, Josef managed to give the impression that the world really was “without worries”
