Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) Brindisi from La Traviata
Das bekannte Trinklied Brindisi (deutsch Toast) stammt aus der Oper La Traviata. Diese Oper (ital. für „Die vom Wege Abgekommene“) nach dem Roman „Die Kameliendame“ von Alexander Dumas, Jg. wurde 1853 im Teatro La Fenice in Venedig uraufgeführt und gilt als eine der erfolgreichsten Opern der Musikgeschichte. Im ersten Akt erklingt in Violettas Salon das Trinklied Libiamo ne’ lieti calici gesungen von Alfredo, Violetta und dem Chor. Die vorliegenden Fassung kann instrumental gespielt werden, da die Partien von Alfred im Fagott und jene von Violetta in der Violine eingezogen wurden. Sollten doch Sänger hinzugezogen werden, können die jeweiligen Stellen vom Cello bzw. von der Violine ausgespart werden.
The well-known drinking song Brindisi (German: Toast) comes from the opera La Traviata. The opera (Italian for “She who has strayed from the path”) based on the novel “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexander Dumas, premiered 1853, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and is considered one of the most successful operas in music history. In the first act, the drinking song Libiamo ne’ lieti calici is heard in Violetta’s salon, sung by Alfredo, Violetta, and the choir. This version can be played instrumentally, as Alfred’s parts have been included on the bassoon and Violetta’s on the violin. If singers are called in, the corresponding passages can be omitted from the cello or violin.
