Johann Strauss (1825-1899) Couplet Zsupán „Ja das Schreiben…“ aus der Operette „Der Zigeunerbaron“ / “The Writing…” from operetta “The Gypsy Baron”
Der Zigeunerbaron ist eine Operette in drei Akten von Johann Strauss. Die Uraufführung fand 1885 im Theater an der Wien statt. Im ersten Akt der Nr. 3 erzählt Zsupán, ein reicher Schweinezüchter aus dem Banat, dass „das Schreiben und das Lesen nie sein Fach“ gewesen sei“. Bei der ersten Aufführung bürgte Alexander Girardi (Bass-Buffo) als Zsupán für den Erfolg der Operette. Prof. Werner Hackl präsentiert hier eine Bearbeitung dieses witzigen Couplets für Altsaxophon mit Begleitung eines Bläserorchesters.
The Gypsy Baron is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss. The premiere took place in 1885 at the Theater an der Wien. In the first act of No. 3, Zsupán, a rich pig farmer from Banat, says that “writing and reading were never his speciality”. At the first performance, Alexander Girardi (bass buffo) as Zsupán guaranteed the success of the operetta. Prof. Werner Hackl presents an arrangement of this witty couplet for alto saxophone with accompaniment by a wind orchestra.
