Die Polka „Electrisch“ ist bis auf wenige Takte identisch mit dem Terzett Nr 9 aus Ziehrers Operette Die Landstreicher (erschienen 1899). Der Titel „Electrisch“ bezieht sich auf die sich seit 1873 entwickelnde Elektrizitätswirtschaft und die sich vorerst in der durch Kronprinz Rudolf eröffneten Elektrotechnischen Ausstellung in Wien (16.8. bis 4.11.1883) manifestierte. Sein Ausspruch „Ein Meer von Licht strahle aus dieser Stadt und neuer Fortschritt gehe aus ihr hervor“ wurde zum geflügelten Wort.
The polka “Electrisch” is, apart from a few bars, identical to the trio No. 9 from Ziehrer’s operetta Die Landstreicher (published in 1899). The title “Electric” refers to the electricity industry that has been developing since 1873 and which initially manifested itself in the Electrotechnical Exhibition opened by Crown Prince Rudolf in Vienna (August 16 to November 4, 1883). His saying “A sea of light shines out of this city and new progress emerges from it” became a popular saying.
