Träumerei lautet der Titel eines Klavierstückes von Robert Schumann, das als Nr. 7 den Mittelpunkt des dreizehnteiligen Klavierzyklus Kinderszenen bildet. Das Stück entstand 1838 und ist dreiteilig mit einer Wiederholung des ersten Teiles; alle Teile gliedern sich in viertaktige Vorder- und Nachsätze. „Ein erster Blick auf die Noten genügt (so Alban Berg), dass hier – bis auf ein paar Taktteile – ein strenger vierstimmiger Satz vorliegt, der, was Stil, Charakter, kontrapunktische Satzweise, was Umfang der einzelnen Stimmen und deren Spiel- und Sangbarkeit anbelangt, ohneweiters auch einem Streichquartett oder einem Bläserensemble, ja sogar den vier Singstimmen unterlegt werden könnte.“ Die Tonart wurde hier von F- auf Es-Dur transponiert. Die Träumerei gilt heute als Inbegriff der Romantik.
Träumerei is the title of a piano piece by Robert Schumann, which, as No. 7, forms the centerpiece of the thirteen-part piano cycle Kinderszenen. The piece was written in 1838 and is in three parts with a repetition of the first part; all parts are divided into four-bar antecedents and consequents. “A first glance at the notes is enough (according to Alban Berg) to show that – apart from a few bars – this is a strict four-part piece, which, in terms of style, character, contrapuntal composition, range of the individual voices and their playability and singability, could easily be played by a string quartet or a wind ensemble, or even by the four singing voices.” The key was transposed here from F to E-flat major. Träumerei is today considered the epitome of Romanticism.
